Oct. 5: Fresh & Easy confirms that this store will be a new “express” store.

Grocery chain Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market hopes to come Crown Valley Parkway and Golden Lantern, according to paperwork filed with the city of Laguna Niguel.
The British-owned chain filed for a use permit with the city to take over a 4,350-square-foot space at 28985 Golden Lantern, in the Grove shopping center. The currently vacant store was formerly occupied by Blockbuster.
The permit is still under review by the city, Planning Manager Jeff Gibson said. Fresh and Easy’s proposal will go before the Planning Commission, though a hearing date has not yet been scheduled. The store must also file for a building permit to refit the former video rental store as a market.
The chain’s other O.C. stores are in Orange (2), Laguna Hills, Anaheim, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley (2), Westminster, La Habra and Buena Park.
Fresh & Easy stores are also planned for Anaheim Hills, Brea, Rancho Santa Margarita, Cypress and Costa Mesa. The Costa Mesa location, the chain’s second in that city, will be in a shopping center on Harbor Boulevard and Gisler Avenue.
